Doug Kempton
Eagle Sports Club

Doug spoke about Eagle Sports to our club 20+ years ago and received a grant from our foundation. He will be updating us on all the ways the organization has grown since then. Doug recently attended one of our meetings when his daughter, Casey Kempton, spoke about her bakery school, Milk & Honey, in Nigeria.

Eagle Sports Club was founded in 1999 to serve families on the East Side of Detroit by building relationships through sports. Today we serve roughly 1,000 participants in six leagues for kids age 4-14. The fruit of the ministry has been incredible:

  • A city park that was run down and dangerous has been restored, including the addition of a $1.6 million championship baseball field.
  • Relational bridges have been built as urban and suburban families have played, cheered, and coached together, side by side.
  • Kids and parents have been encouraged and mentored, and many have become Christians, gotten baptized, and joined churches.

Eagle Sports Club offers summer baseball, spring and fall soccer, spring flag football and winter basketball and hockey every year for youth ages 4-14. All outdoor sports are played at Balduck Memorial Park on Canyon Street. Each sport is coached by volunteer coaches that understand the importance of creating meaningful relationships with each player. Before each game we gather for a short message and prayer.

All sports fees are affordable and designed to ensure all can participate regardless of their economic status. Scholarships are available.
