In a town where many are lifelong residents of Grosse Pointe, Dio brings a unique perspective shaped by his trips to over 40 countries and all 50 states.
Tonight, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dio Rockers, a member of Rotary for over a year. Dio has consistently contributed to our weekly meetings with his willingness to take on various responsibilities. In a town where many are lifelong residents of Grosse Pointe, Dio brings a unique perspective shaped by his trips to over 40 countries and all 50 states.
Dio's upbringing on his family’s 80-acre farm in Austin, Minnesota instilled in him a strong work ethic from a young age, as he managed daily operations with pigs, chickens, and crops. This determination carried him through college and his service in the United States Army. Following his military service, Dio went onto a career in the industrial adhesive industry, starting at National Starch and Chemical. Working for National Starch and Chemical led him to working in their headquarters in South Africa as well as their London headquarters. After spending over 10 years working abroad, he was relocated back to America in their New Jersey headquarters. After years at the company, Dio founded his own adhesive business in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1999, where he and his wife raised their two sons.
After leading his company for nearly 15 years, Dio decided to settle with his wife in Scottsdale. Unfortunately, in 2018 Dio’s wife was diagnosed with cancer, and after a year of fighting cancer, she lost her battle. This loss prompted Dio to relocate from Scottsdale to Grosse Pointe in late 2019 to be closer to one of his sons, eventually joining Rotary in 2023.
Some of Dio’s favorite places he has visited include Australia, New Zealand, Eastern Europe, and China.
