Last night we were joined by Krista Siddall, the executive director of The Helm. She was appointed as the executive director in 2023. In 2018 spirit of Detroit Award.
The Helm offers a variety of services to Grosse Pointers that many do not know about. Health/ Fitness classes, language classes, ballroom dancing, Home safety services, and free medicare counseling are all on the list. In the past year The Helm has offered 26,000 meals on wheels, 6600 rides to medical appointments, 350 volunteers to the community. All of these programs aim to help Grosse Pointe seniors with increasing social connections- something that has been proven to help your health more than smoking, drinking and exercising. As any Grosse Pointer resident knows, people like to stay in place when aging- stay in beautiful homes and stay in the wonderful community. All of the Helm’s hard work aims to help with these goals.
On this November’s ballot, the Helm is asking for a millage for the next 6 years.
