Melissa Roy, is the Executive Director of Advancing Macomb. Her background includes working for the Detroit Regional Chamber and media relations for Macomb County Executive, Mark Hackel, before taking on her current role in 2015. Advancing Macomb is a business and community leadership group whose mission is bring people together to positively transform Macomb by strengthening its communities, economy, and natural resources.
In trying to bring the cities in the County together, it has conducted a bike drive where 1,000 bikes were donated and 700 given away to local students. It has also helped financially with a kayak launch and to overhaul the Clinton River. Currently, the organization is putting together a community summit for Mt. Clemens to determine what the residents feel needs to be revitalized.
Advancing Macomb’s goals consist of serving as the County’s premier leadership organization, growing a community investment fund to enhance development, and providing a unified voice to enhance promotion of the County’s assets. To learn more, www.advancingmacomb.com.
