During our April 16th meeting, we were joined by Alex Allen, the President and CEO of the Chandler Park Conservancy. Since 2016, the conservancy has been working to reimagine the park as a wonderful place for community members to go.
With over 200 acres, the park has been open since 1917. Throughout the park’s history, it has seen decades of many people visiting, and times of needed repair. Since the conservancy has started working on the park, they have improved the basketball courts, golf courts, gardens and much more. According to a 2019 study, every year the park welcomes over 314,000 visitors a year, which people travelling from around the stature to visit.
Currently, they are looking to add an indoor dome workout facility with a track, an indoor basketball court that doubles as a pickleball court. They are hoping that the facility will be open in June of 2025. The Chandler Park Conservancy are also improving their education centers and to add art installations around the park.
In previous years, Rotary has helped provide lawn mowers to the Chandler Park Conservancy. Thank you Alex for speaking to us and for all of the great work the Chandler Park Conservancy does!
