On Wednesday, May 7, we were joined by Andrea Gruenwald as our guest speaker!
Andrea is the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator for Grosse Pointe Public Schools and has helped shape the program that is geared to make students ready for the real world. Andrea has been working for over 15 years in CTE Life Skills as a teacher at Parcells Middle School. Now she oversees a district wide program that includes Business Administration, Marketing, and Finance, Culinary Arts at both high schools, Digital Multimedia at Grosse Pointe North, and new programs like Cybersecurity and Education General.
Since the program's start in 2016, Andrea and her team have generated over $3 million in state funding. This allows for more money to be funded for the district for programs like these. Students can even earn college credit (with partners like Ferris State University), and participate in hands-on work-based learning experiences. The Advisory Board includes alumni and current educators. Thank you, Andrea, for your dedication and for inspiring us with your work!
