On April 30th, we were joined by Tracey Webb and Debbie Webb. These sisters founded We Fixin’ To Fish, a non profit organization that aims to bring children from the city blocks of Detroit out to the water to learn to fish.
Both Tracy and Debbie both grew up in Detroit, fishing occasionally as kids. The joy of catching your first fish is a feeling that they wanted all children to feel. This led them to found their non-profit. Currently, they have over 7,000 children registered to fish yearly. They accumulate their rods from donations and from used shops. They work with local bait shops to supply bait.
Each year they host classes that teach young fishers to learn how to start, from learning to tie a lure to catching your first fish. Thank you for joining us!
